The Renesas RA8D2 MCUs feature breakthrough performance with fully deterministic, low-latency, real-time operation and are packed with high-end graphics peripherals to meet the most demanding requirements for IoT and industrial applications.
The Renesas RA8D2 MCUs, available from Mouser, include single and dual core options, featuring a 1 GHz Arm® Cortex®-M85 processor with an optional 250 MHz Arm Cortex-M33 processor delivering an unmatched 7300 Coremarks of raw compute performance. The optional Cortex-M33 processor enables efficient system partitioning and task segregation, and embedded MRAM offers several advantages over Flash, including high endurance, data retention, faster writes with no erase required, byte addressability, and lower leakage and manufacturing costs. The RA8D2 also integrates high-resolution graphics peripherals, including a graphics LCD controller with parallel RGB and MIPI DSI interfaces, and a 2D graphics drawing engine, enabling high-performance graphics applications. These highly integrated MCUs also feature 16-bit parallel and MIPI CSI-2 camera interfaces for acquiring image and video data from camera sensors. The RA8D2’s PDM and SSI interfaces enable audio and voice for AI applications, with several connectivity features, including gigabit Ethernet, a TSN switch, Octal SPI, USB, and CAN FD. It also offers advanced security with an on-chip cryptographic engine, secure boot, secure debug and factory programming, plus DLM, tamper protection, and DPA/SPA protection. The RA8D2 is available in 224-pin and 289-pin BGA packages.
Mouser also stocks the Renesas Electronics EK-RA8D2 evaluation kit, which enables users to easily evaluate the RA8D2 MCUs features and develop embedded system applications using Renesas’ Flexible Software Package (FSP) and e2 studio IDE. Users can leverage the rich onboarding features and their choice of popular ecosystem add-ons to implement a wide range of applications, including vision AI and high-end HMI applications. A bundle of example projects is available for users to download and quickly evaluate key peripherals, accelerating proof-of-concept development.
