Introducing PEmicro’s Cyclone MultiChannel Programmer

A compact, modular production programming platform that programs up to 16 devices at the same time.

PEmicro has released the Cyclone MultiChannel Programmer, a new production programming platform that can program as many as 16 devices simultaneously from a compact, modular unit.

It is aimed at manufacturing environments where throughput, reliability, automation and physical size all matter. Each channel programs truly independently, yet the whole system is controlled from a single point, so production teams can run parallel programming without adding complexity to their process.

The Cyclone MultiChannel builds on programming technology that PEmicro has refined over decades, re-engineered for modern automated manufacturing, and marks a new generation of PEmicro production programming tools.

Ultra-Compact Design Without Sacrificing Capability

Space on fixtures and benchtops is always limited.

The Cyclone MultiChannel fits a high channel count into a very small footprint, which suits fixture integration, benchtop use, automated test systems and manufacturing setups that need to scale.

The design is modular, based on quad-channel blocks that can be snapped together, mounted, or fitted on a DIN rail to suit the production environment. Standard systems come in 4-, 8-, 12- and 16-channel configurations, and even larger installations can be built by controlling multiple units through the SDK.

This gives a programming platform that grows with production needs while keeping fixture space and cabling to a minimum.

Built to Meet Production Challenges

Production programming needs differ greatly from one line to another.

Some lines program high volumes of a single product, while others handle a constantly changing mix of devices, each with its own programming requirements. The Cyclone MultiChannel was designed to handle both situations.

It supports thousands of ARM and non-ARM devices and a wide range of programming protocols, including SWD, JTAG, Secure JTAG, BDM, DAP, Nexus and others.

Key capabilities include:
  • High-speed parallel programming

  • Dynamic per-device data and serialization

  • Robust production monitoring and status reporting

  • Corruption- and tamper-resistant programming images

  • Device verification and securing

  • Device traceability

  • Per-channel target power control

  • Electrically isolated USB and Ethernet communications

  • Secure image storage and IP protection

  • Extensive device support with no per-device costs

Whether the goal is high throughput, serialization, traceability, device testing, automation or support for several device architectures, the Cyclone MultiChannel offers the flexibility to cover a broad range of programming applications.

Designed for Automation

Manufacturing relies heavily on automation, and the Cyclone MultiChannel was designed with this in mind.

Its SDK and console tools allow it to be integrated into custom manufacturing applications, command-line workflows, fixture controllers, Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and Automated Test Equipment (ATE).

Integration support includes:
  • LabVIEW

  • C and C++

  • C#

  • Java

  • Python

  • Rust

  • Visual Basic

  • Other languages through standard APIs

  • Windows, Linux and macOS

From a single fixture to a fully automated production line, the Cyclone MultiChannel offers the flexibility and control needed to fit into existing manufacturing infrastructure.
